■Directors' Bios

Ms. Stephanie Keiko Kong, Program Director

Ms. Kong joined IEM during its inception September 2010. She traveled to India and trained intensively under Dr. Renuka Anvekar, completing certification for the I-Math and Smart Steps programs. During the same residency, Ms. Kong advanced to become Master Trainer for the US in both programs.

Ms. Kong has over 12 years of experience in the field of early childhood education. She has taught and designed curriculum in both private and public school sectors as well as various non-profit organizations across Hawaii. Furthermore, Ms. Kong participates with various theatre and music organizations in Honolulu and has received Certification I from the Center for Music and Young Children. Ms. Kong is currently in yoga teacher training with an emphasis on yoga for children.

Ms. Kong graduated with Honors from the University of Hawaii with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance. Ms. Kong began acting and singing professionally from her junior year, and she was selected as an ArtsBridge America Scholar her senior year.

Ms. Kong is an avid volunteer, yogini, musician, and theatre actor, but she is most passionately an educator. She trains her staff with the same warmth and attention with which she teaches her students. She currently lives in Honolulu with her husband Jason.

■Directors' Bios

Rodney Julian Agpaoa, Program Director - Sunnyvale

Born and raised in Honolulu, Mr. Agpaoa joined the IEM team in February of 2011. He has worked with and trained intensively under Ms. Stephanie Keiko Kong, Master Trainer and Program Director of IEM Hawaii.

Mr. Agpaoa has over 6 years of experience in the field of early childhood education, creating lesson plans and curriculum based activities for young children. In addition, Mr. Agpaoa has nearly 2 years working in the Child Life Services sector of a nationally recognized hospital. His empathy, patience, and compassion for children is due to his belief that each child possesses strong potential and that it is his duty, as an educator, to help cultivate and foster that potential.

Graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Mr. Agpaoa received a Bachelor of Science in Family Resources with a focus on Early Childhood. At the dawn of his senior year, Mr. Agpaoa was inducted into Phi Upsilon Omicron, a national honor society in Family and Consumer Sciences, only to become Vice President during his final semester at UHM.

Mr. Agpaoa is known to be quite the craftsman and artist and is constantly looking for new projects. He has dabbled in costume and set design, but has most experience in wedding floral design, with clientele including local and international celebrities, and has even fashioned arrangements for the Disney family residence.

Mr. Agpaoa currently resides in Santa Clara, California.
